Last year's generous gift from the Student Government Association (SGA) supported the refurbishment of Instruction and Research Technology's Preview Room in the Library's Media Services Department, the creation of the new Nexus news center space, and the purchase of three archival journal collection from the popular and highly respected JSTOR service. Following completion of these projects, the Library discovered it still had leftover funds.
With approval from the SGA, the Library has now used these funds to purchase a fourth archival journal collection from JSTOR, the Arts and Sciences IX Collection. Featuring approximately 150 active titles, the Arts and Sciences IX Collection includes journals from over 25 countries, with significant strengths in archaeology, anthropology, business and economics, political science, history, area studies, and demography, along with several other subject areas (a complete title list is available here).
With the addition of Arts and Sciences IX, the Cheng Library is now offering a total of eight JSTOR journal collections which represent over 1,700 titles. We thank the SGA once again for its generosity in supporting student access to important Library resources!
